Red onions are the slightly milder, sweeter and definitely more colourful cousin of the white and yellow onion. With their trademark purple colour and their more palatable flavour, they are often the first choice for many people when eating raw onions.
ORIGIN: Our red onions come from Holland and Egypt.
NUTRITION: Onions do contain some Vitamin C and B6, and they are a good source of dietary fibre.
TIP: To temper the flavour of red onions if you are eating them raw and prefer them very mild, you can soak them in water before serving.
