Fresh Produce Trader

Meade Potato Company are now recruiting for a confident, professional Fresh Produce Trader to join their team. The Fresh Produce Trader will build relations with new and existing suppliers & customers, with the goal of expanding sales and market share in the Fresh Produce section of their business.

The role for the enthusiastic candidate will be to optimise sales through negotiation, analysis, planning and people management. Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience in Sales & Procurement of fresh produce to the retail market.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

  •          Develop, negotiate and execute contracts/agreements with suppliers.
  •          Manage relationships with existing customers and suppliers to ensure adherence to quality, level of service and price competitiveness.
  •          Work as an integral part of the Sales and Procurement team to review pricing, budgeting etc. to ensure delivery of quality products to our customers.
  •          Maintain and expand sales of existing customers based on specific targets and identify new sales opportunities with prospective new customers.
  •          Managing the supply of materials through effective planning/ forecasting.
  •          Prepare & execute presentations for prospective customers
  •          Monitor stock and source required product to ensure continuity of supply.
  •          Prepare reports on Purchasing activities for Management
  •          General administration associated with purchasing as required
  •          Respond to and resolve queries daily from stores and suppliers efficiently
  •          Ad-hoc duties as directed by Management


 Desired Skills and Experience


  •          Bachelor’s degree in a Business or supply chain related discipline
  •          3+ years’ experience in a similar role
  •          ERP experience is a distinct advantage
  •          Knowledge of purchasing methods and procedures
  •          Experience in the implementation, development and execution of business, planning, purchasing and controls systems
  •          Knowledge of / experience in the FMCG Sector would be an advantage
  •          Strong negotiation skills
  •          Excellent Communicator: verbal and written
  •          Strong organisational, problem-solving and analytical skills
  •          Proficiency in MS Office (e.g. Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint)

Trading Administrator/Assistant

The role of the Trading Administrator/Assistant will prepare reports and provide accurate feedback to the team on Sales, stock levels, purchase orders and provide administrative support to the Procurement and Sales team.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

  •          Provide administrative support and assistance to the Procurement and Sales team
  •          Work closely with all supply chain elements to achieve positive customer service levels
  •          To ensure stock levels are kept in line with business targets
  •          Support the Procurement and Sales team in generating purchases/ sales orders on a daily basis
  •          Monitor and review KPI’s related to demand planning and actual sales (forecast accuracy)
  •          Review orders received versus forecast
  •          Prepare/conduct sales analysis and market research
  •          Design & execute presentations for prospective customers
  •          Coordinate freight contracts to ensure continuity of supply
  •          Ensure Stock counts are performed and reconciled
  •          Ensure smooth and efficient operations at all times

Quality Assurance Manager


The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for overseeing and leading the work of the Quality Team in the QA department. You will be prepared to carry out internal audits on a routine basis & maintain Quality Control / HACCP procedures on a daily basis. Knowledge of BRC, Global Gap, IOFGA & Bord Bia standards is desirable & leading out scheduled & unscheduled technical audits.


Managerial Duties:

  • Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback.
  • Maintain employee work schedules including assignments, job rotation, training, time off/ holidays, rosters and cover for absenteeism.
  • Coach employees for performance and attendance. 
  • Ensure all Quality related matters are communicated to management.
  • Liaise with customers on returns, customer complaints and any queries they may have.
  • Ensure specifications are in place for all raw materials and finished products.
  • Ensure all the quality records for the production floor are covered in document control and are updated when required.
  • Track and trend volumes returns data and identify areas of weakness/strengths and present to Senior Management.
  • Hold monthly Quality Team meetings.
  • Ensure GMP/Glass and Hard Plastic Audits are carried out monthly.
  • Ensure Shelf Life monitoring is completed on a scheduled basis and any trends communicated to the procurement department.
  • Ensuring Supplier Approval is kept up to date and all suppliers hold 3rd party accreditation. Highlight to the procurement department if any supplier is out of their accreditation date (Bord Bia has expired).

Quality Assurance Duties:

  • Carrying out quality inspections on produce at intake, during production and finished product stage. Complete attaching quality reports accordingly.
  • Completion of daily record keeping that maintains Quality management Systems, E.g. Scales/temperature checks, etc.
  • Sending Quality reports to Suppliers daily and reviewing raw material quality on a continuous basis.
  • Communicate details to the Quality/Production/purchasing teams on the quality/shelflife of produce being received by MPC.
  • Ensuring HACCP (food safety) principles are continuously met for product safety and process control.
  • Ensuring good manufacturing and housekeeping practices are in place at all times including completion of routine cleaning check sheets when required.
  • Liaising with the Supervisors, Line-Leaders, General Operatives and Buyers on quality of produce on a daily basis.
  • Maintain customer and supplier specifications for all products.
  • Ensuring BRC, Global Gap and TFMS requirements are maintained as set down in the relevant standard.
  • Carrying out internal audits on a routine basis/ when required.
  • Endorses an “Audit Ready Every day” and Customer Focussed Culture
  • Ensuring and cross-checking traceability for each delivery and contact all foreign suppliers to obtain traceability in advance.
  • Communicate your work plan and envisaged daily and weekly tasks with Management in advance
  • Assist management with any ad hoc duties requested or in their absence.

Key Experience and Skills:

  • 3rd Level qualification in relevant Discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience within a food manufacturing environment
  • Prior Managerial experience is essential 
  • BRC / IFS Food Safety Certification, HACCP, Bord Bia, Food Service and Retailer Codes of Practices and food manufacturing is essential
  • Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma Principles
  • Ability to delegate to a team but also ability to work on own initiative
  • Must have excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Computer literate
  • Quality Risk-based thinking and decision making
  • Must be able to prioritise and organise tasks
  • Natural ability to work in team-oriented environment

Industrial Cleaner

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking individual to join our friendly team as an industrial cleaner working in a food packhouse environment. To maintain the cleanliness of all designated areas as directed using appropriate equipment and/or materials as supplied.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Deep Cleaning, washing walls, cleaning of production machinery as required. To keep to a high audit standard at all times.
  • Maintain the highest standard of cleanliness within assigned areas by ensuring that the relevant work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are followed.
  • To ensure accurate completion of area logbooks as required by SOPs.
  • Ensure regular checks of the equipment and machines used during the working day.
  • Participate in the Health and Safety Policy of the Company and report any dangers or hazards to management.
  • Carry out any duties as required by the management.
  • All employees are required to, and are responsible for adhering to Quality, Compliance and Environmental, Health and Safety regulations applicable to their role. Training will be provided to ensure that the procedures are understood.

Meade Potato Company is currently seeking Food Production Operatives to start with immediate effect. Reporting to the Team Leader and / or Warehouse Manager, this role requires the Operative to effectively and efficiently perform their daily work tasks to the highest level of hygiene, food safety and health and safety standards, meeting all targets and reporting all issues.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  •          Duties will include some or all of the following duties-grading produce, box building, hand packing, order picking, labelling and assembly- high attention to detail is required at all levels of this production process.
  •          Quality inspection of fresh produce is required- picking bruised foods, mixing batches, weighing ingredients, the running and monitoring of machines and the general housekeeping of the production line.
  •          Loading/unloading of produce, picking orders, wrapping pallets and checking paperwork can also be required.
  •          Take instruction on work to be completed from your respective line leader / warehouse manager accordingly
  •          Be flexible and willing to join different production lines – as requested
  •          Fulfilling customer orders to the highest standards.
  •          Ensuring an excellent level of accuracy and attention to detail is provided when picking customer orders
