 Sales Executive


Meade Potato Company, an award winning Fresh Produce Company who have operated from their family farm in Co. Meath for the last four decades, are now recruiting for a confident, professional Sales Executive to join their team. The Sales Executive will build relations with new and existing suppliers & customers, with the goal of expanding sales and market share in the prepared foods section of their business.


The role for the enthusiastic candidate will be to optimise sales through negotiation, analysis, planning and people management. Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience selling fresh and/or prepared produce to the retail market.


Job Role & Responsibilities

  •          Manage current customer base through frequent communications and excellent service
  •          Building good relationships with new suppliers & customers
  •          Target prospects and conduct cold calls in order to continuously grow the customer base
  •          Identify and leverage various opportunities for business development
  •          Attend various sales meetings and customer appointments
  •          Developing new business opportunities.
  •          Closely dealing with sales, logistics and accounting departments
  •          Respond to and resolve queries daily from stores, customers and suppliers efficiently
  •          Sales analysis, promotion and market research
  •          Prepare & execute presentations for prospective customers

The ideal candidate will;

  •          Have a passion and interest in the Fresh/prepared Produce industry
  •          Demonstrate a high level of competency and confidence in using IT systems, including the Microsoft Office programs and capacity to learn new programs quickly. Use of Prophet system a distinct advantage.

 Desired Skills and Experience

Forklift Operator

The role requires the Forklift operator to effectively and efficiently perform their daily tasks to the highest level of hygiene, food safety and health and safety standards, meeting all targets and reporting all issues. The role will report directly to the warehouse manager/ supervisor and will involve the employee being an integral part of the team, working together and meeting production plans.


Key roles & responsibilities

  • Loading/unloading of produce using forklifts/ pallet trucks, picking orders and counting/ signing paperwork will be required.
  • Ensuring an excellent level of accuracy and attention to detail is provided when picking customer orders.
  • Take part in all training provided, when requested–Manual Handling Training, Forklift/ pallet truck training, etc.
  • Ability to take instruction but also ability to work on own initiative
  • Other ad hoc duties as requested or directed by management


Key behaviours/ Competencies

  • Minimum of 2 years forklift/ pallet truck experience
  • Experience in loading racking/ pallet trucks would be an advantage
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours including weekends, night shifts, early starts and late finishes as required

Technical Manager


The main focus of this role will be to plan and manage the technical activity throughout the site and to ensure the product range meets the industry food standards. The Technical Manager will prepare and lead factory audits to include BRC, Bord Bia, Global Gap, IOFGA, Customer and Department of Agriculture Audits.
They will be the main point of contact for Customers and Regulatory Bodies with regards to food safety, quality and legality. The Technical Manager will also be the site safety contact with responsibility for the Health and Safety within the business.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the site complies to BRC & all customer standards
  • Advise and promote best practice standards throughout the operation
  • Responsible for achieving procedural compliance in relation to regulatory, legal and customer standards
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects.
  • Management of the company’s traceability program.
  • Manage Key accounts from a Technical and customer service point of view, e.g. calibration
  • Contribute to recruitment, planning and training of the quality team, supervisors and management to ensure they understand all relevant specifications and procedures.
  • Ensure all operational performance measures are reached
  • Manage people issues including absenteeism, return to work interviews, performance, development etc. in consultation with HR.
  • Ensuring hygiene and housekeeping standards are at a level to ensure 100% daily GMP compliance.
  • HACCP team leader, management of QMS and internal audit schedule responsibility.
  • Ensuring HACCP (food safety) principles are continuously met for product safety and process control.
  • Follow up issues and targeted improvement programs internally and with suppliers
  • Lead quality audits of suppliers where necessary
  • Responsibility for managing all aspects of Quality and initiate and manage quality improvement projects
  • Joint Leader of the Origin Green Sustainability programme, monitor all targets and update reports.
  • Monitor customer complaints, implement corrective and preventative action where possible.
  • Risk assess all areas of the QMS. Determine frequencies of sampling, i.e. water, micro, nutritional.
  • Analyse results to meet tolerances according to risk, implement corrective and preventive action.          
  • Review and update SOP’s and company Safety Statement in relation to work activities and Health and Safety.
  • Manage contractors on site, ensuring all required safety information is submitted.
  • Keep up to date with all HSA Legislation & Regulations

Quality Technician


The role of the Quality Control Technician is to work closely with the Quality Manager in maintaining Quality Control / HACCP procedures on a daily basis, testing and examining all produce to ensure the highest standard of quality is achieved for all customers.


Key Duties & responsibilities

  •          Carrying out quality inspections on produce at intake, repack and finished product stage.
  •          Completion of daily record keeping E.g. intake and dispatch checks etc. Sending Quality reports to Suppliers, reviewing raw material quality on a continuous basis and communicating any quality issues to production/ purchasing departments.
  •          Ensuring HACCP principles are continuously met for product safety and process control.
  •          Ensuring BRC and TFMS (Tesco) requirements are maintained as set down in the relevant standard and ensuring traceability is maintained for all lines.
  •          Ensuring and cross-checking traceability for each delivery and contact all suppliers to obtain traceability in advance
  •          Assist in carrying out internal audits on a routine basis/ ensuring that the factory is compliant with all health & safety/ quality regulations


Qualifications/ experience

  •          Degree in Food Science or similar
  •          Minimum of 2 + years’ experience in the Agri-Food sector is essential.
  •          BRC / IFS Food Safety Certification, HACCP, Bord Bia, Food Service and Retailer Codes of Practices and food manufacturing is essential.

Food Production Operatives


Meade Potato Company is currently seeking Food Production Operatives to start with immediate effect. Reporting to the Team Leader and / or Warehouse Manager, this role requires the Warehouse Operative to effectively and efficiently perform their daily work tasks to the highest level of hygiene, food safety and health and safety standards, meeting all targets and reporting all issues.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

  •          Duties will include some or all of the following duties-grading produce, box building, hand packing, order picking, labelling and assembly- close attention to detail is required at all levels of this production process.
  •          Quality inspection of fresh produce is required- picking bruised foods, mixing batches, weighing ingredients, the running and monitoring of machines and the general housekeeping of the production line.
  •          Loading/unloading of produce, picking orders, wrapping pallets and checking paperwork can also be required.
  •          Take instruction on work to be completed from your respective line leader / warehouse manager accordingly
  •          Be flexible and willing to join different production lines – as requested
  •          Fulfilling customer orders to the highest standards.
  •          Ensuring an excellent level of accuracy and attention to detail is provided when picking customer orders

Maintenance Fitter


Meade Potato Company are currently recruiting a Maintenance Fitter to join our expanding maintenance team. The role is suitable for a motivated individual who is capable of working with complex mechanical and electrical production lines in a fast paced environment.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

  •          Carry out preventative, emergency and predictive maintenance of all equipment throughout the factory
  •          Liaise with and assist any 3rd party contractors in carrying out their duties on site.
  •          Troubleshoot with respect to repair of all equipment on the production floor, whilst ensuring downtime is kept to a minimum
  •          Maintain a high standard to Health & Safety during maintenance work.
  •          Complete all required documentation accurately.
  •          Conduct mechanical and electrical repairs within the factory


Qualifications/ Experience

  •          FAS mechanical diploma/ Trade certificate
  •          At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  •          Electrical experience would be an advantage
  •          Experience in pneumatics would be beneficial
  •          Knowledge of CMMS systems is desirable
  •          Previous experience with packaging equipment in an FMCG environment is highly desirable
  •          Full clean driving licence
  •          Flexibility in relation to working hours, the role will entail evenings/ weekend work.
