Cultra is the home grown white potato of choice, for those who like a bit of waxiness in their spuds. With a good white skin finish, a cream flesh, and pink eye, it is suitable for baking, boiling, steaming and roasting.
Harvested from August through October but available all year round.
Store potatoes in a cool, well ventilated place, out of sunlight.
Avoid storing your potatoes beneath your sink or beside large appliances as this may be too warm.
Potatoes are a great source of energy for athletes because they are a GOOD carbohydrate - they are easily processed by the body. Many Ultra marathon runners actually eat potatoes during their races so that they can refuel as efficiently as possible.
